  • A safe and friendly environment for employees and their patrons
  • Reputation improvement of the premises
  • Increased likelihood of repeat business
  • Reduced staff turnover

  • Avoiding liquor license being placed in jeopardy

About Responsible Service of Alcohol:

It is essential that licensees have an RSA policy and procedure in place. Employees are also legally required to have a current RSA certificate in order to serve alcohol in a licensed venue.

The RSA program benefits both employee and employer. One of the most difficult parts of working in a licensed venue is refusing alcohol to someone who may already have had too many drinks. Penalties if employees serve someone who is considered "drunk" or under the legal drinking age can cost over $6000 in fines and place the liquor license of the employer in jeopardy. The RSA program offers participants the knowledge and awareness of when to slow and moderate the service of alcohol to customers as well as a range of strategies in refusing service. This ensures that employee protect themselves, display a duty of care for their customers and value the liquor license that the employer maintains.

Employers can rest assured that their trained employees are capable of identifying problems associated with excessive consumption of liquor and implementing responsible serving strategies to ensure a friendly and safe environment for the customers. Training staff in RSA is one way of ensuring that employees are providing a good time for customers while you operate within the law.
