Course Outline

The Certificate IV in Hospitality provides the opportunity for hospitality workers to update, increase and broaden their skills and knowledge within the various industry roles.

This course is designed to take your hospitality workers to the next level. It equips them to be competent in skilled operations, practical application of knowledge as well as team leading and supervision. Certificate IV in Hospitality is designed to direct and equip hospitality employees in their industry development so they may move into supervision and management roles. Through an engaging and relevant learning environment, Certificate IV participants will gain the ability to drive and monitor their own performance and the performance of a successful customer focused team.

Training is undertaken in-house and tailored to the needs of your establishment.

Possible job roles include:

Individuals with this qualification are able to perform roles such as:

  • supervising the operation of a bar or restaurant
  • supervising activities of a front desk or reception
  • food and beverage supervisor
  • supervising gaming operations


Qualification Requirements

A total of 26 units must be completed:

  • all 14 core units
  • 12 elective units

  • Prepare and serve espresso coffee
  • Provide specialist advice on food
  • Provide specialist advice on wine
  • Prepare and serve cocktails
  • Plan and monitor espresso coffee service
  • Implement food safety procedures
  • Transport and store food in a safe and hygienic manner
  • Provide accommodation reception services
  • Provide housekeeping services to guests
  • Provide room service
  • Clean premises and equipment
  • Apply point-of-sale handling procedures
  • Process financial transactions
  • Provide responsible gambling services
  • Attend gaming machines
